Synopsis:
Throughout the 1970s, journalist Elías Barahona, alias “El Topo,” infiltrated the heart of one of the most repressive governments in Guatemala. By unveiling the story of this reserved and unique individual, The Silence of the Mole captures the moments when revelations from the past open cracks in the walls of silence in a history that remains hidden.

Anaïs Taracena, documentary filmmaker with a master's degree in political science. In Guatemala she works with human rights organizations as a filmmaker. She has participated in Berlinale Talents, IDFA Academy School, Talents Guadalajara as an emerging director. El silencio del topo/ The silence of the mole, her first feature film, has been screened at more than 40 film festivals and has won 13 international awards, including the Silver Biznaga for Best Documentary at the Malaga Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea. Other notable works include Los médicos de la Montaña (Guatemala, 2019), Entre voces, (Guatemala, 2018), 20 años después, co-directed with Rafael González (2017).Screenplay:
